hello everybody! haz here I don’t exactly have the words to sum up how I am feeling right now. the headline is that our debut EP, A Place I Once Called Home is finally out today. We’ve been playing and writing music a long time. In the act of writing songs with my best friends, I have found a sense of fulfilment and self-worth that had always eluded me up until the point i first strummed a guitar. Sometimes I think everything good about my life has its genesis in that first strum. I’m not really sure. I started this band with my friends riley and jim before my voice had fully broken. and when I was a little boy, I used to sit and dream away my life thinking about recording something like this, even just to hold it in my hands. and now riley is married, and i finally look my age, and it took thirteen fucking years but here it is. from the outside, today is very much a blip. LOCAL SYDNEY BAND RELEASES EP! shocking… the headline never really does the story justice anyway. A Place I Once Called Home is a collection of songs about what it means to be 20 years old and feel limitless under the light of a moon rendered increasingly blurry with each passing hour. It starts with a breakup song about a first love, and it ends with my friends chattering away in the living room - just as they always did, and just as they always will. I could go on forever! but I’ll end it this way: If you get the EP on CD, you’ll see a poem written on the inner sleeve. I had a little ending for it that felt too harry-centric for something we all did together. but these songs feel so personal to me that I feel indebted greatly to the friends in my life to whom I keep cryptically referring. So! as u read the headline SYDNEY BAND FINDING BETTER HEALTH RELEASES DEBUT EP I’d like to add the subheading I wrote a long time ago: to katie, to zac, to riley, jandel, matt, and jim, to jemma, and most of all, to ash to you each I owe the only parts of me I care for. as long as I have you all, I’ll always be home.

the second track from our debut EP is OUT 🤩 the autumn has been floating around for so long. we tried forever to make it into what it wanted to be, and as a result, it’s turned out to be the most collaborative track we ever put out. it all came together on a little trip to the snowy mountains, right as a storm rolled in. playing the outro with my best friends for the first time as the wind picked up over mt tate is up there with my most cherished memories of playing music. we really hope you like it at least half as much as we enjoyed writing it. god i really hope so. chat soon x recorded @thebrainstudios
